Metsojen Laulu Sweater

The Metsojen Laulu series includes a sweater pattern for aran-weight yarn, as well as knitting patterns for socks and fingerless gloves. This collection was designed for my own outdoorsman, and I loved the results so much that I decided to share the pattern for others to enjoy as well.

This pattern is designed for aran-weight yarn, meaning you can use Lettlopi, 7 Veljestä, Drops Lima, Karisma, or similar yarns.

The sweater is knitted seamlessly from the bottom up in the round.

Yarn Requirements

Lettlopi (50 g skeins):

A 1416 Moss Green: 6, 6, 7, 7, 7, 8, 9, 9 skeins

B 0051 White: 2, 2, 2, 2, 3, 3, 4, 4 skeins

C 1406 Spring Green: 1, 1, 2, 2, 2, 3, 3, 3 skeins

D 0059 Black: 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1 skein

E 0054 Light Ash Gray: 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1 skein

F 0058 Dark Gray: 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1 skein

G 9434 Red: 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1 skein (only a small amount needed for the eyes of the capercaillies, scrap yarn will suffice)

Materials

DPNs size 3.5 mm and 4.5 mm

Circular needles:

40 cm, size 4.5 mm

60 cm, size 3.5 mm and 4.5 mm

80 cm, size 4.5 mm

Tapestry needle, stitch markers, and a safety pin

Gauge

10 cm x 10 cm = 18 sts and 24 rows in stockinette stitch on size 4.5 mm needles.
